An evening in two halves: The first is based around sport with tips & hints on how to get better shots. The second uses some of the same techniques in other areas of photography and showing creative shutter speeds.

Tony was Curator of Alton's Curtis Museum for some 30 years and provides the historical background relating to images of Alton since photography first came to the town. Tony will also remind us the people who have contributed to the fascinating body of work which exists today.

Alton usually compete and there can be up to twenty sequences shown in the evening.

This event is at Woking PS, Parkview Centre for the Community, Sheerwater Recreation Ground, Blackmore Crescent, Sheerwater, Woking, GU21 5NZ. No access from Devonshire Road; signed to Sheerwater Recreation Ground. Starts 8pm but you are advised to arrive earlier.

A hands-on introduction to Photoshop

Photoshop

Sue presents an introduction to Photoshop with a demonstration including different types and uses of layers, cloning, composites, saving images for prints and projection and many other useful techniques. You can bring a laptop to follow along (in small groups) and suitable images to work with will be provided.

Photoshop

The full version of Photoshop will be used for the talk but any recent version should be OK. Photoshop Elements will handle most of the techniques shown but may not be suitable for use on the evening, however, you can download a 7 day trial full version from the Adobe website.

We will be showing a large number of images which have scored in the passing range at Credit, Distinction and Master level for the PAGB awards for photographic merit. It is a chance to see some really great images and to obtain a clear understanding of the standard required to achieve each of the merit awards. Something to aim for?

The finest Prints and PDIs from clubs in the Southern Counties Photographic Federation. Alton will be competing in both sections.

Hosted by Bracknell CC. This event starts mid-morning and finishes late afternoon.

The Newbury Challenge Plate

Alton CC compete in an invitation print match for 8 clubs from Wiltshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset. Although we haven't won the plate since 2011, we had the best print in 2015 and 2016.

Hosted by Newbury Camera Club at the Shaw Social Club, Almond Avenue, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 1LU. It starts at 7:30pm and early arrival is recommended. £3 fee (includes half-time buffet).

SCPF AGM and Finals Day

The Annual General Meeting of the SCPF and also the individual Print and PDI competitions for the best images from each club that entered the Leagues.

At the Millennium Hall, Hall Way, Littleton near Winchester.

Meetings
Unless specified otherwise, all meetings are on a Wednesday evening at the Holybourne Village Hall.
We're open at 7pm for a prompt 7:30pm start. Help setting up the room is always welcome. We finish by 10pm.
