AGM - Friday 30th April 2010
The results of proposals put forward at the AGM
1) Reintroduction of Slide Competitions
That Slide Competitions be reintroduced commencing with the season 2011-2012 ie to give members time to gain new pictures. This means that we would then have one competition involving genuine pictures not fake constructed digital images and C.G.Is manipulated to picture non-existent images. This view was expressed by our last speaker Jon Baker.
The Mono P.D.I. competition could be dropped
Result
The Slide Competition be kept for the 2011/2012 Season. No slides entered to be older that 2 years.
The Mono Pdi Competition to continue
2) That the Following competitions be changed/suspended/stopped due to low or non participation:
Face of Alton(Mary Bisset Cup)
Record Sleeve/CD/DVD/Book Cover
Innovative Photography (Merlin Hologram)
Result
Face Of Alton - Retain. Prints to be taken to outside Judge and then shown in Club (Committee decision)
Record Sleeve/CD/DVD/Book Cover - Retained. To be Judged by the Judge at 2nd PDI Competition (Committee decision)
Innovative Photograph (Merlin) - Retained. To be judged by Judge on His 'n' Hers evening (Committee decision)
3) That the 'Children in View' competition is changed to a different topic. Photography and displaying children in the current climate could be considered 'incorrect'.
The Proposal is that we retain the competition but with a different topic.
Result
To leave the present format
4) I propose that the Slide competition is suspended for the next two years. I propose it should be discussed again at the AGM of 2012-2013
Result
Withdrawn. Proposal covered under No 1
5) With the potential changes to the SPF League (ie. no prints), I would like to propose that if this is accepted, we reduce the club print competition to 3 rounds and increase the club projected competitions to 5
Result
Withdraw after discussion
6) I would like to propose that the print and projected competitions are divided into intermediate and advanced classes with cups awarded to the winners of both classes at the end of the season
Result
To form a new Class for PDIs only. Class title to be determined. (Committee decision)
7) That the the club annual subscription be increased to £30 per annum with effect from the 2010/2011 season. Equipment will probably have to be replaced in the next few years and we need to start making provision.
Result
Carried
8) That the Meadows Photo-Presentation and the (judged) AV Competitions be amalgamated. That sequences of up to 8 minutes(?) be permitted, but only those of 5 minutes or less would be able to be considered for Inter-Club Competitions
Result
Carried

Roll of Honour Citation - Jennie Pearson
Jennie Pearson has been a member of Alton Camera Club for almost forty years and in that time has
undertaken such tasks as diverse as weekly tea lady to club chairman.
One of the first duties she undertook from the mid seventies right up until the end of the 2007/2008
season, with only one or two year breaks, was that of press officer. Over 30 reports a year for
around 30 years, to two local papers, works out at around 1800 reports and at least half of them
would have been done before the use of a computer perhaps made this task less of a chore.
Again in the mid seventies she joined the Audio Group and regularly submitted AV Sequences for the
clubs annual audio visual show both individually and as a co-author. Over the last five or six years
she has fronted the group’s shows given to clubs and organisations around the district.
Although Jennie’s name has never appeared officially as such she has co-edited the club magazine
Highlight for over 20 years, (in fact typed most of it) until its demise just over two years ago.
She now proof reads the newsletter.
For twenty-five years Jennie co-produced Presentation Evening, the club’s annual prize giving.
This involved assembling work submitted by members, writing and recording scripts and over the last
ten or twelve years or so, reading this script on Presentation Evening.
Since Eric Bennett was elected to the post of Programme Secretary in 1996 Jennie has acted as his
correspondence secretary.
Club Weekend – This event which has become known as the Club Weekend has been organised by Jennie
with her son who is manager with Truman’s Travel a local coach travel firm. These weekends were
started in the year of the first Gulf War when the club’s winter holiday had to be cancelled.
Club Safari Jennie and Eric Bennett organised six or seven of these annual events back in the 1980’s
Club Handbook. Although originally produced by Sylvia Cox,. Jennie has carried out at least three
updates over the years.
Introductory Booklet. This booklet was produced in order that the club should have something to
give to new and prospective members explaining what the club was all about. Most of the work involved
in producing this booklet was undertaken by Jennie.
In the summer of 2006 Jennie did most of the work involved in drafting the club’s successful Lottery
application.
The club owe her a great deal!.
